Jamie Carol began his musical career as a classically trained tenor, in other words, an opera singer. But from the time he was a young child, he grew up listening to the legendary artists and classic songs of country music. Even though he grew up in Southern California, his family roots are planted deep in Missouri and Arkansas, so he was surrounded by all types of music, but especially country. He now calls Arizona home, where he spends much of his time writing the music and lyrics to his own original songs.
It is often said that country music is simply three chords and the truth, and that’s what has always drawn Jamie to country. Most country music is about real life and the hard times that often come with it. But Jamie really likes to get down into the deep cracks and crevices of life and poke around. Some of his songs are wild and fun, but others take a stark and profound look at the realities of life. Jamie’s hope is that people will see the openness and simple, raw honesty that he tries to infuse into his music. Every single one of us on this planet wants and needs the same things. We all want to love and be loved and needed, and we all worry about the same basic things like family, friends, career, money, and especially our own mortality. And it’s that shared humanity that he tries to tap into with each song he writes. These are things that we can all relate to.
Finally, Jamie strives for a very real and authentic sound, preferring to record everything with live musicians instead of prepackaged beats or computerized effects. In Jamie’s songs, if you hear an instrument playing, you can bet it was played by a living breathing human being.
